English 1 to 8
Our regular English program starts from Grade 1 to Grade 8. The courses are designed to complement the Ontario English curriculum. However, more emphasis is placed on grammar and writing techniques. Aspects of reading, writing, speaking, and listening are covered. Students currently taking English as a Second Language (ESL) courses should consult with Marilake administrative staff to select an appropriate course level.
English High School One (Grade 9 to 10)
This online course introduces grade 9 and 10 content that balances reading comprehension, writing skills, media literacy, and oral communication with a fusion of assignments, peer review, and project-based learning. It's vision is strengthen the students' foundational skills and apply them to real-world contexts, following the expectations outlined in the Ontario curriculum. By the end of the course, students will become more competent writers and speakers, and will be ready for the challenges of senior high school English courses.
